Maicena Cups with Chocolate and Coffee
Ingredients
- 1 cup (250g) of milk or plant-based milk
- 1/4 cup (50g) of coffee
- 1 tablespoon (15g) of vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (50g) of cornstarch
- 4 tablespoons (30g) of cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup (80g) of sugar or sweetener to taste
- 1/2 cup of coffee or milk. It can also be coffee with milk (1/4 cup of coffee + 1/4 cup of milk)
- Marie biscuits
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the milk, coffee, and vanilla extract. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it starts to simmer, then remove it from the heat.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch, cocoa powder, and sugar until well combined.
- Slowly pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients while whisking continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and place it back over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once thickened, remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool slightly.
- Take your serving glasses or cups and place a layer of crushed Maria biscuits at the bottom of each.
- Pour the chocolate and coffee mixture over the biscuit layer, dividing it evenly among the cups.
- Refrigerate the cups for at least 2 hours, or until the mixture is set and firm.
- Before serving, you can garnish the tops with some additional crushed biscuits or a sprinkle of cocoa powder for extra flair.
- Enjoy your Maicena Cups chilled, and savor the rich blend of chocolate and coffee flavors in every spoonful!
