Homemade Simit Sticks
Ingredients
- For the Dough:
- 200ml lukewarm Milk
- 100ml Water
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- 1 packet Dry Yeast
- 1½ teaspoons Salt
- 600g Flour
- Some Oil
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- Additionally:
- 80ml Grape Syrup
- 80ml Water
- Sesame Seeds for rolling
Instructions
- Combine milk, water, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and knead into a soft dough. Cover and let it rise for 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into 9 equal pieces and shape them as shown. First, dip in grape syrup, then roll in sesame seeds. Place on a baking sheet with parchment paper and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
- After baking, cover with a damp cloth.
