Homemade Simit Sticks

Ingredients

  • For the Dough:
  • 200ml lukewarm Milk
  • 100ml Water
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 packet Dry Yeast
  • 1½ teaspoons Salt
  • 600g Flour
  • Some Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • Additionally:
  • 80ml Grape Syrup
  • 80ml Water
  • Sesame Seeds for rolling

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, water, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and knead into a soft dough. Cover and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into 9 equal pieces and shape them as shown. First, dip in grape syrup, then roll in sesame seeds. Place on a baking sheet with parchment paper and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  4. After baking, cover with a damp cloth.
