Ingredients

  • For the dough:
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons (250g) sugar
  • 1 cup (250g) butter (room temperature)
  • 5 eggs (medium size)
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 2 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour
  • Additionally:
  • 5-6 apples
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • For the crumble topping:
  • 1/2 cup (80g) sugar
  • 1 cup (140g) flour
  • 1/2 cup (100g) soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (100g) chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla sugar.
  4. Sift in the baking powder and flour, and mix until a smooth dough forms.
  5. Spread the dough evenly onto the greased baking sheet.
  6. Peel and slice the apples, then arrange them in rows over the dough.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle it over the apples.
  8. To make the crumble topping, combine the sugar, flour, butter, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts in a bowl. Mix until crumbly, then sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apples.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Once baked, let the cake cool slightly before slicing into squares.
  11. Serve your delicious Apple Sheet Cake warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
