Trilecha Cake
Ingredients
- Trilecha Cake:
- 3 eggs
- 1 and 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons warm water
- Vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 and 1/4 cups flour
- For Soaking:
- 1/2 liter milk
- 1 can of cream
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- For Cream:
- 200 grams whipped cream
- 1 cup liquid milk
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- For Caramel:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon butter
- Pinch of salt
- Vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preparing the Cake Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, crack the eggs and add 1 and 1/4 cup of sugar.
- Pour in 3 tablespoons of warm water and a dash of vanilla extract.
- Sprinkle in a pinch of salt, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of cornstarch.
- Gradually add 1 and 1/4 cups of flour while stirring until you have a smooth batter.
- Baking the Cake:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a cake pan.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let the cake cool completely in the pan.
- Soaking the Cake:
- In a bowl, mix together 1/2 liter of milk, a can of cream, and 1 tablespoon of sugar.
- Poke holes all over the surface of the cooled cake using a skewer or fork.
- Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Set aside.
- Making the Cream:
- In another bowl, whip 200 grams of whipped cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gradually add 1 cup of liquid milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar while continuing to whip until well combined.
- Preparing the Caramel:
- In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture turns golden brown.
- Carefully add 1/2 cup of milk while stirring continuously.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with a little water until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of butter, a pinch of salt, and a splash of vanilla extract.
- Assembling the Cake:
- Once the cake has soaked up the milk mixture, spread the whipped cream evenly over the top.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the whipped cream layer.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least a few hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve chilled and enjoy your delicious Turkish Trilecha Cake!
