  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • Pinch of salt
  • Vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preparing the Cake Batter:
  2. In a mixing bowl, crack the eggs and add 1 and 1/4 cup of sugar.
  3. Pour in 3 tablespoons of warm water and a dash of vanilla extract.
  4. Sprinkle in a pinch of salt, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder, and 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of cornstarch.
  5. Gradually add 1 and 1/4 cups of flour while stirring until you have a smooth batter.
  6. Baking the Cake:
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Grease and flour a cake pan.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Once baked, let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  12. Soaking the Cake:
  13. In a bowl, mix together 1/2 liter of milk, a can of cream, and 1 tablespoon of sugar.
  14. Poke holes all over the surface of the cooled cake using a skewer or fork.
  15. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Set aside.
  16. Making the Cream:
  17. In another bowl, whip 200 grams of whipped cream until stiff peaks form.
  18. Gradually add 1 cup of liquid milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar while continuing to whip until well combined.
  19. Preparing the Caramel:
  20. In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water.
  21. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture turns golden brown.
  22. Carefully add 1/2 cup of milk while stirring continuously.
  23. Stir in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with a little water until the mixture thickens.
  24. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of butter, a pinch of salt, and a splash of vanilla extract.
  25. Assembling the Cake:
  26. Once the cake has soaked up the milk mixture, spread the whipped cream evenly over the top.
  27. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the whipped cream layer.
  28. Refrigerate the cake for at least a few hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  29. Serve chilled and enjoy your delicious Turkish Trilecha Cake!
