Chessboard Cheesecake


  • Chocolate Cake:
  • 150g butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 180g all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Cheese Filling:
  • 125g softened butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 800g cottage cheese
  • 200g heavy cream (30% fat)
  • 2 tablespoons pudding mix (powder)


  1. Combine the first four ingredients for the chocolate cake in a saucepan and heat on the stove.
  2. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. Beat in the eggs and add the sifted flour and baking powder. Mix until combined.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  5. Pour the chocolate batter into the tray, smooth it out, and bake for about 25 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it cool.

Cheese Filling:

  1. Beat the butter with sugar until fluffy. Then add eggs, cheese, pudding mix, and pour in the heavy cream.
  2. Mix everything until combined.

Assembling the Cake:

  1. Cut the cooled cake into diagonal strips.
  2. Arrange the strips in a baking dish, removing every other one and setting them aside.
  3. Pour the cheese filling into the gaps. Then place the reserved strips on top and fill the remaining gaps with more cheese filling.
  4. Bake at 180°C for about 45-50 minutes.
