Super Moist Chocolate Cake
It's the perfect treat when you're craving chocolate and it's incredibly easy to whip up
Ingredients
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup HERSHEY’S Cocoa
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- Chocolate Frosting:
- 16 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 1/2 - 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 6-8 tablespoons heavy cream
- Topping: Optional, 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 13x9” pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, excluding the boiling water.
- Mix everything together for 2-3 minutes until the wet and dry ingredients are well combined, using either a handheld or stand mixer.
- Carefully pour in the boiling water and stir until fully incorporated.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Allow the cake to cool on a wire rack for about 45 minutes before making the frosting.
- For the frosting: Beat the butter for 2-3 minutes until fluffy. Add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract, and whip together. Gradually add the heavy cream until you reach a creamy consistency.
- Frost the cake, sprinkle with mini chocolate chips if desired, and enjoy every delicious bite!
