Super Moist Chocolate Cake

It's the perfect treat when you're craving chocolate and it's incredibly easy to whip up

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup HERSHEY’S Cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Chocolate Frosting:
  • 16 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 1/2 - 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 6-8 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Topping: Optional, 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 13x9” pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, excluding the boiling water.
  4. Mix everything together for 2-3 minutes until the wet and dry ingredients are well combined, using either a handheld or stand mixer.
  5. Carefully pour in the boiling water and stir until fully incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes. Allow the cake to cool on a wire rack for about 45 minutes before making the frosting.
  8. For the frosting: Beat the butter for 2-3 minutes until fluffy. Add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract, and whip together. Gradually add the heavy cream until you reach a creamy consistency.
  9. Frost the cake, sprinkle with mini chocolate chips if desired, and enjoy every delicious bite!
