Marshmallow Cake

Ingredients

  • Cake:
  • 9 egg whites
  • 15 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • Filling:
  • 4 cups milk
  • 9 egg yolks
  • 10 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 vanilla pudding mixes
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Additional:
  • 7/8 cup (200g) butter or margarine
  • 1 cup (100g) whipped cream or sweetened whipped cream
  • 2 1/2 cups (300g) ground walnuts
  • 1 1/4 cups (300ml) whipped cream or 1 1/4 cups (300ml) sweetened whipped cream for covering the entire cake

Instructions

  1. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Add sugar and vinegar, then continue beating for a bit longer. Pour the egg whites into a 30x20 cm baking dish lined with parchment paper. Bake at 150°C (about 300°F) for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Turn off the oven and let it cool completely.
  2. Beat the egg yolks with sugar, then add the pudding mixes, cornstarch, and a bit of milk. Cook in boiling milk until thickened. Let the filling cool, then mix it with the butter or margarine. Add 1 cup of whipped cream and combine with the filling. Divide the filling into two parts. Mix ground walnuts into one half.
  3. Assemble the cake: cake layer, walnut filling, yellow filling, whipped cream or sweetened whipped cream. Enjoy!
