Golden Hazelnut Croissants

Ingredients

  • 350g all-purpose flour
  • 7g dry yeast*
  • 40g powdered sugar
  • 150ml milk
  • 50g butter
  • 1 egg
  • a pinch of salt
  • Extras:
  • about 250g chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella)
  • 40g hazelnuts
  • Glaze:
  • 80g powdered sugar
  • 2.5 tablespoons hot water

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour into a bowl. Add the yeast and mix well. Add sugar, salt, melted and cooled butter, and lukewarm milk. Crack in the egg and knead the dough until it's smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes. Cover with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  2. Divide the risen dough into 2 portions. Roll each portion into a circle (about 0.5 cm thick). Cut into triangles, spread with chocolate hazelnut spread, and roll into croissants.
  3. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rest for 15 minutes. After this time, brush them with beaten egg. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 180°C (350°F). Once done, drizzle with glaze and sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts.
