Best Sponge Cake Base
Ingredients
- 6 eggs, separated
- 1 cup (200g) sugar
- 3/4 cup (100g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (50g) cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup (50g) cornstarch
- 1 packet baking powder
- 6 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Separate the eggs, and beat the egg whites with sugar until fluffy, about 8 minutes.
- Mix the egg yolks with water and gently fold them into the egg white mixture.
- In a separate bowl, sift together all the dry ingredients.
- Slowly fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until well combined.
- Pour the batter into a baking pan and smooth it out.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 320°F (160°C) with both top and bottom heat for about 45 minutes. (Don't forget the toothpick test)
