Rich and Moist Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- 2 cups (260g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (70g) cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup (250g) sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup (250 ml) milk
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup (250 ml) boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Slowly pour in the boiling water while stirring continuously until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the babka to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
