Rich and Moist Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (260g) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup (70g) cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup (250g) sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup (250 ml) milk
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (250 ml) boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Slowly pour in the boiling water while stirring continuously until the batter is smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the babka to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
