Nutella Cinnamon Donuts
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk, warmed to about 110 degrees F
- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs + 1 egg yolk
- 3 1/2 cups flour, plus extra for rolling
- 1 tablespoon oil (for greasing the bowl)
- 6 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 cup cinnamon sugar
- 1/2 cup Nutella
Instructions
- Start by combining the lukewarm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes activated and frothy.
- In a stand mixer bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Mix in the eggs until everything's well combined.
- Now, add in the activated yeast mixture and continue whisking on medium speed.
- Switch the mixer attachment to a dough hook, and gradually add in the flour. The dough should be soft. Transfer it to a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap and a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 90 minutes until it doubles in size.
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out with a rolling pin. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out your donuts, then place them on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Let them rise for another 30 minutes, covered with a towel.
- While the dough is rising, heat the vegetable oil in a large pot to 350°F.
- Fry the donuts for about 2 minutes on each side until they're golden brown. Then, immediately sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar and pipe Nutella into each donut. And there you have it – your delicious Nutella Cinnamon Donuts are ready to be devoured! Enjoy every bite!
