Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, warmed to about 110 degrees F
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs + 1 egg yolk
  • 3 1/2 cups flour, plus extra for rolling
  • 1 tablespoon oil (for greasing the bowl)
  • 6 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup cinnamon sugar
  • 1/2 cup Nutella

Instructions

  1. Start by combining the lukewarm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes activated and frothy.
  2. In a stand mixer bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Mix in the eggs until everything's well combined.
  3. Now, add in the activated yeast mixture and continue whisking on medium speed.
  4. Switch the mixer attachment to a dough hook, and gradually add in the flour. The dough should be soft. Transfer it to a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap and a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 90 minutes until it doubles in size.
  5. Once the dough has risen, roll it out with a rolling pin. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out your donuts, then place them on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Let them rise for another 30 minutes, covered with a towel.
  6. While the dough is rising, heat the vegetable oil in a large pot to 350°F.
  7. Fry the donuts for about 2 minutes on each side until they're golden brown. Then, immediately sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar and pipe Nutella into each donut. And there you have it – your delicious Nutella Cinnamon Donuts are ready to be devoured! Enjoy every bite!
