Colorful Sprinkle Cake


  • For the cake:
  • 2 cups (270g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups (345g) granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup (120g) vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup (180g) sour cream
  • 2/3 cup (200g) plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the frosting:
  • 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons (45g) heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Sprinkles for decorating


For the cake:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, mix together 2 cups (270g) of flour, 1 1/2 cups (345g) of sugar, 4 teaspoons of baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  • Add 1/2 cup (120g) of oil, 2 large eggs, 2/3 cup (180g) of sour cream, 2/3 cup (200g) of plain Greek yogurt, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.

For the frosting:

  • In a mixing bowl, beat 3/4 cup (170g) of softened unsalted butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add 3 cups (360g) of powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in 3 tablespoons (45g) of heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Once the cakes are cooled, spread a layer of frosting on top of one cake layer, then place the second cake layer on top.
  • Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
  • Decorate with colorful sprinkles.
  • Slice and enjoy your vibrant sprinkle cake!
