Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 package)
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Filling:
  • 1/2 cup brown butter (boil butter for 5 minutes)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • French Toast Topping:
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Maple Syrup Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: brown sugar pecans

Instructions

For the Dough & Filling:

  1. Microwave the milk in a small bowl until it reaches 110°F, about 60 seconds.
  2. Place the warm milk and yeast in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, melted butter, and sugar to the mixture and beat until just combined.
  4. Slowly add 1 cup of flour at a time along with the salt, mixing until fully incorporated. Switch to the dough hook attachment and beat for 6 minutes.
  5. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise for 60 minutes in a warm place.
  6. While the dough rises, make the filling by combining the brown butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangular shape. Spread the filling on top of the dough, leaving a 1-inch rim. Roll the dough into a log and slice it into large rolls.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased 9” to 10” baking dish and cover them with a towel while you prepare the French toast topping. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  9. Combine the milk, eggs, and cinnamon, then pour the mixture over the cinnamon rolls. No need for a second rise!
  10. Bake for 25 minutes. Meanwhile, combine all the glaze ingredients and stir until smooth. Drizzle the maple glaze over the rolls, sprinkle with pecans if desired, and dig in! Enjoy your delightful treats!
