Apple Cake with Meringue

Ingredients

  • For the dough:
  • 🍎1/2 kg all-purpose flour
  • 🍎6 egg yolks (set aside the egg whites for the meringue)
  • 🍎200 g butter
  • 🍎4 tablespoons sugar (if you prefer sweeter cakes, add more sugar)
  • 🍎2 teaspoons baking powder
  • For the filling:
  • 🍎Roasted homemade apples or jarred ones from the store
  • For the meringue:
  • 🍎6 egg whites
  • 🍎3 tablespoons sugar
  • 🍎2 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions

    Mix all the dough ingredients and knead into a uniform dough. Divide into two parts. Use one part of the dough to line the bottom of the baking pan, then layer the roasted apples on top.
    ➡️Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form, adding sugar gradually. Finally, add the cornstarch to the meringue, and mix well. Spread the whipped meringue over the apples. Sprinkle or grate the remaining dough over the top.
    ➡️Bake at 180°C for about 50 minutes.
