  • 1 cup (205g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (55g) pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups (330g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • Spiced Maple Butter:
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • Cinnamon Sugar:
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • Maple Icing:
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 3/4 cup (75g) powdered sugar

Instructions

Maple Cookies:

  1. Heat up the oven to 375°F and line a big baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Keep it aside.
  3. Slice out 1 tablespoon of butter from the room temperature cup and place it in a small dish. Add the rest of the butter into a mixing bowl (hand or stand mixer with the paddle attachment).
  4. Take out 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar and put it with the tablespoon of butter. Add the remaining brown sugar and granulated sugar to the mixing bowl. Mix on medium-high speed until smooth and light in color.
  5. Scrape down the bowl, add maple syrup, egg, and vanilla. Mix on medium-high speed for about 1 minute.
  6. Pour in the dry ingredients and mix. Then, use a spatula to mix the dough, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl to blend everything well.

Spiced Maple Butter:

  • Mix the remaining spiced maple butter ingredients with the reserved butter and sugar in a small dish.
  • Drop small amounts of this butter into the cookie dough. Gently fold the dough to create ribbons without overmixing.

Cinnamon Sugar:

  • Roll dough scoops in a mix of cinnamon sugar.
  • Place 3-4 cookies on the baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes, following the slamming process during specific intervals.

Once the cookies have cooled, it's time for the icing!

Maple Icing:

  1. Whisk together melted butter, maple syrup, and powdered sugar.
  2. Pour the icing into a piping or sandwich bag, snip off a tiny corner, and drizzle it over the cooled cookies. Enjoy!
