Quick and Easy "Cold Baklava" Recipe
Ingredients
- For the Sugar Syrup:
- 2 1/2 cups sugar (500g)
- 1 cup water (200g)
- 2 cups milk (500ml)
- 2 packets vanilla sugar
- Combine all these ingredients in a pot, bring them to a quick boil, and then let them cool.
- For the Filling:
- 1 cup ground walnuts (200g)
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (200g)
- A dash of cinnamon
- (Set aside some for decoration)
- Additional Ingredients:
- 1 pack Baklava Yufka (available at Turkish stores)
- 1 cup melted butter (250g)
- Cocoa powder for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) with both upper and lower heat.
- In a bowl, mix ground walnuts, chopped walnuts, and cinnamon for the filling.
- Layer Baklava Yufka sheets in a baking dish, brushing each layer generously with melted butter.
- Spread the nut filling evenly over the layers.
- Continue layering with Yufka and butter until you run out of sheets.
- Cut the Baklava into desired shapes before baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once out of the oven, pour the cooled sugar syrup over the hot Baklava.
- Let it absorb the syrup and cool down.
- Sprinkle cocoa powder on top for an extra touch.
