Poppy Seed Swirl Rolls
Ingredients
- 25g yeast
- 125ml warm milk
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 50g melted butter
- 3 eggs
- Poppy seed filling
- 1 egg for egg wash
Instructions
- In a cup, crumble the yeast and add a tablespoon of sugar. Pour in the warm milk, add a tablespoon of flour, and mix well. Let it sit for 15 minutes to activate.
- In a mixing bowl, sift the flour and add the sugar, eggs, melted butter, and activated yeast mixture.
- Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise for at least an hour.
- Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Spread the poppy seed filling evenly over the dough.
- Fold one long side of the dough towards the center, then fold the other long side over it.
- Cut the dough into equal pieces.
- Use a wooden spoon to make an indentation along each roll.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, let them rest for 10 minutes, then brush with beaten egg.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
