Grandma Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 cup milk (60 ml)
  • 150 g softened butter
  • 3-4 tablespoons hot water
  • 2 eggs
  • APPLE FILLING:
  • 1 kg apples
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 40 g butter

Instructions

Mix the ingredients for the dough until you get a smooth consistency (I used a stand mixer, but you can also do it by hand 😉). Wash, peel, and chop the apples. Transfer them to a pot, add 1/3 cup of water, sugar, and butter. Simmer, stirring occasionally. The apples should soften and break down slightly. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Grease a baking pan with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs or line it with parchment paper. Roll out half of the dough and place it in the greased pan. Pre-bake at 190°C for about 15 minutes.

Spread the apple mixture (homemade or store-bought) over the pre-baked crust. Cover with the other half of the rolled-out dough. Bake for about 40-45 minutes at 190°C.
