Banana Bread Cinnamon Rolls

Perfect for breakfast or dessert, these mouthwatering treats combine the comforting flavors of banana bread with the sweetness of cinnamon rolls.

Ingredients

  • For the Dough:
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast (1 package)
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup mashed bananas (1 small banana)
  • 4-4 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • For the Filling:
  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 small bananas, sliced
  • For the Glaze & Topping:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, microwave the milk until it reaches 110°F, about 60 seconds.
  2. Place the warm milk and yeast into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, melted butter, granulated sugar, and mashed banana to the mixture and beat until just combined. Slowly add the flour and salt mixture, 1 cup at a time, until fully incorporated. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then switch to a dough hook and beat for 8 minutes.
  4. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise for 90-120 minutes in a warm place.
  5. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by combining the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Slice the two small bananas.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangular shape. Spread the filling evenly over the dough and arrange the sliced bananas on top.
  7. Roll the dough into a log shape and slice it into large rolls. You should get about 8 large rolls. Place them in a 9” skillet or a 9x9 baking dish and pour the heavy cream over them.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by combining the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk. In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped pecans, melted butter, and light brown sugar.
  10. Once the rolls are baked, drizzle the glaze over the top and sprinkle with the candied pecans.
