Apple Pie with Meringue

Ingredients

  • For the Crust:
  • 1/2 kg of all-purpose flour
  • 6 egg yolks (set aside the egg whites for the meringue)
  • 200 g of butter
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar (if you like it sweeter, feel free to add more sugar)
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • For the Filling:
  • Roasted apples (homemade or store-bought)
  • For the Meringue:
  • 6 egg whites
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch

Instructions

Mix all the ingredients for the crust until you get a uniform dough. Divide it into two parts. Use one part to line the bottom of your baking pan, then spread the roasted apples on top.

Beat the egg whites until stiff, gradually adding the sugar. Finally, fold in the cornstarch. Spread the meringue over the apples. Crumble the remaining dough over the top.

Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 45 minutes.
